I love to do paintings like this.  There´s so many stories to tell and so many details to paint.   On the small torn paper I tried to write something in French.  It reads: C´est real?  Is it real?  Peut etre un illusion, maybe an illusion.  L´artiste a un..the artist has a...part of the trick is to write incomplete sentences to add some mystery.  The size of the painting is 18 x 24 in., oil on canvas.

Me encanta pintar este tipo de pinturas.  Hay tantas historias que contar y tantos detalles que pintar.  En el papelito roto traté de escribir algo en francés.  Se lee: C´est real? ¿Es real? Peut etre un illusion, talvez una ilusión.  L´artiste a un..el artista tiene...parte del truco es escribir oraciones incompletas para agregar más misterio.  El tamaño de la pintura es 46 x 61 cms, óleo sobre lienzo.

Knowledge-Sabiduría

This work took me around 7 hours to finish it.  The 7 hours were divided in 3 days, the first two sessions were of 3 hours and the last one was around an hour. The first day I blocked in the whole composition.  The second day was more of adding some more details and giving more depth to the colors.  The third day, everything was finished but decided to make some small extra changes to improve the painting.  The size of the painting is 14 x 15 in., oil on canvas.

Este trabajo me llevó alrededor de 7 horas para terminarlo.  Las 7 horas fueron divididas en 3 días, las primeras dos sesiones fueron de tres horas y la última fue de una hora.  El primer día pinté toda la composición.  El segundo día era de agregar más detalle y darle más profundidad a los colores.  El tercer día, todo estaba terminado, pero decidí hacer unos pequeños cambios para mejorar la pintura.  el tamaño de la pintura es 36 x 38 cms, óleo sobre lienzo.

Travelling is one of the most rewarding experiences there can be.  Every place in the world has its own unique beauty.  It´s an unmemorable experience to visit different countries, get to hear different languages, experience different cultures, taste different foods, see different landscapes and cityscapes, and smell different aromas.   The size of this painting is 20 x 24 in., oil on canvas.

Viajar es una de las experiencias más gratificante que pueden haber.  Cada lugar en el mundo tiene su propia belleza única.  Es una experiencia inmemorable visitar diferentes paises, oir diferentes idiomas, experenciar diferentes culturas, probar diferentes comidas, ver diferentes paisajes y ciudades, y oler diferentes aromas.

I like to paint narrative paintings as this.  There´s so much to tell in each detail or texture painted.  The girl is riding her homemade scooter, almost dragging it on the edge of the sidewalk.  Even though she´s poor, she´s satisfied with the little she has.  She´s having fun riding her scooter without any worries or hurries.  The size of this painting is 31.5 x 33 in., oil on canvas.

Me gusta pintar pinturas narrativas como ésta.  Hay mucho que decir en cada detalle o textura pintada.  La chica está andando en su patineta casera, casi arrastrándola en el bordo de la acera.  Aunque ella es pobre, está satisfecha con lo poco que tiene.  Se está divertiendo andando en su patineta sin preocupaciones o apuros.  El tamaño de esta pintura es 80 x 84 cms, óleo sobre lienzo.

Melon Refreshment, Refresco de Melón

This was my first time that I experimented using slate as a support.  The slate I used for this painting was a little heavy and had some textures, but it was a wonderful support for painting.  Slate was used as a support by Titian, Sabastiano del Piombo, Alessandro Allori, Rubens and other great masters. The size of the painting is 11.75 x 23.5 in., oil on slate.

Ésta es mi primera vez que experimenté usar una superficie como la pizarra.  La pizarra que usé para esta pintura es un poco pesada y tiene algunas texturas, pero fue una superficie maravillosa para pintar.  La pizarra fue usada como soporte por Tiziano, Sebastiano del Piombo, Alessandro Allori, Rubens y otros grandes maestros.  El tamaño de la pintura es 30 x 60 cms, óleo sobre pizarra.

Breakfast, Desayuno

On this painting I wanted to paint a tea kettle, a semita(sweet bread), and some cup of a hot drink. This is a typical Salvadoran breakfast: the sweet bread known as semita is made with a filling of pineaple, guava, brown sugar or even fig.  The size of the painting is 16 x 20 in., oil on panel.

En esta pintura quise pintar una tetera, una semita(pan dulce, y una taza de bebida caliente.  Éste es un típico desayuno salvadoreño: el pan dulce conocido como semita está hecho con un relleno de piña, guayaba, dulce de panela, o hasta figo.  El tamaño de la pintura es 41 x 51, óleo sobre tabla.
