I´m always fascinated painting trompe l´oeils subjects like this. I like to give myself that extra challenge to try to paint everything so convincingly that it seems to fool the eye. Painting the stamp as close to life size as possible was one of the most challenging tasks of the painting. The stamp measures one inch and a half only, you could imagine the challenge of painting a painting that small!! The size of the painting is 9 x 12 in., oil on Arches paper.
Siempre estoy facinado pintar temáticas de trampantojo como ésta. Me gusta darme ese reto extra de tratar de pintar todo tan convincentemente que parece engañar al ojo. Pintar la estampilla lo más cerca posible del tamaño natural fue uno de las tareas más desafiantes de la pintura. La estampilla sólo mide cuatro centimetros, ¡pueden imaginar el reto de pintar una pintura tan pequeña! El tamaño de la pintura es 22 x 30 cms, óleo sobre papel Arches.
