This is one of the most beautiful banknotes that I have in my collection.  The portrait in the bill is of Annette Von Droste-Huelsholff(1797-1848), a famous German writer and poet.  The German Mark(Deutsche Mark) was the national currency of West Germany from 1948 to 1990 and of Germany from 1990 to 2002, when it was replaced by the Euro.  The size of this painting is 6 x 8 in., oil on canvas.

Éste es uno de los billetes más bonitos que tengo en mi colección.  El retrato en el billete is de Annette Von Droste-Huelshoff(1797-1848), una famosa escritora y poetisa alemana.  El Marco Alemán(Deutsche Mark) fue la moneda nacional de Alemania Occidental de 1948 a 1990 y de Alemania de 1990 al 2002, cuando fue remplazada por el Euro.  El tamaño de la pintura es de 15 x 20 cms, óleo sobre lienzo.

Balance

Finally I decided that it was about time that I paint my parrot holding itself on a rope.  All the times it does this, it would start holding itself upside down screaming and flapping its wings.   I had to use my memory a lot, as there´s no way a parrot would pose holding itself on a rope. The size of this painting is 9 x 12 inches, oil on Arches Paper.

Finalmente decidí que era tiempo que pintara a mi lorita sosteniéndose en una cuerda. Todo el tiempo que hace ésto, empezará a sostenerse cabeza abajo gritando y aleteando sus alas.  Tuve que usar mi memoria bastante, porque no hay forma que un loro va a posar sosteniéndose en una cuerda.  El tamaño de la pintura es 22 x 30, óleo sobre papel Arches.

San Vicente´s Cathedral-Catedral de San Vicente

On this painting I limited my palette to only six colors: raw umber, burnt sienna, yellow ochre, ultramarine blue, mars black, and cremnitz white(lead white).  For the underpainting I used raw umber, burnt sienna, mars black, and white.  I like to use mars black in the underpainting to make various shades of gray and to substitute blue, it´s a fast drying color and of a high tinting strength..a little bit goes a long way. I tried to exaggerate the perspective of the cathedral a bit to give it a more grandiose view.  The size of the painting is 18 x 24 in., oil on canvas.

En esta pintura limité mi paleta a solo seis colores: sombra natural, siena tostada, amarillo ocre, azul ultramar, negro marte, y blanco cremnitz(blanco de plomo).  Para el bosquejo usé sombra natural, siena tostada, negro marte, y blanco.  Me gusta usar negro marte para el bosquejo para hacer varias combinaciones de girs y sustituir el azul, es un color que seca rápido y tiene un elevado poder colorante, un poquito va muy lejos.  Traté de exagerar la perspectiva de la catedral un poco para darle una vista más grandiosa.  El tamaño de la pintura es 46 x 61 cms., óleo sobre lienzo.

Father Time-Padre Tiempo

Father time is represented by the doll with the clothings of antique times.  He is placed over a calendar of an old almanac and an antique pocket watch.  All this reminds us of the passage of time, its brevity and value, that we must make the most of it to its maximum in each and every moment of our lives.  The size of the painting is 12 x 16 in., oil on canvas.

El Padre tiempo está representado por el muñequito con vestimentas de tiempos antiguos.  Él está colocado sobre un calendario de una portada de un almanaque viejo y un reloj de bolsillo antiguo.  Todo ésto nos recuerda del paso del tiempo, de su brevedad y valor, que debe de aprovecharse a su máximo en cada y todo momento de nuestras vidas.  El tamaño de la pintura es 30 x 40 cms, óleo sobre lienzo.

The gift of giving-El regalo de dar

This is the smallest painting that I have painted so far.  I´m working on doing two paintings this size one after the other.  Christmas, birthdays, anniversary dates, and any other special day, remind us of the spirit of giving.  We can give of our time, our pocessions, our friendship, our love, etc. The little angel statue is reminding us of the gift of giving, it holds in its hands a white dove, which represents the gift of letting go.  The little angel  is placed on top of another small gift wrapped in a newspaper, representing the humbleness of giving.  The size of the painting is 3.5 x 4.5 in., oil on canvas.

Ésta es la pintura más pequeña que haya pintado hasta ahora.  Estoy trabajando en pintar dos pinturas de este tamaño una tras la otra.  Navidad, cumpleaños, fechas de aniversarios, y cualquier otro día especial, nos recuerdan del espíritu de dar.  Podemos dar de nuestro tiempo, nuestras pocesiones, nuestra amistad, nuestro amor, etc.  La estatuilla de la angelita nos recuerdan del regalo de dar, sostiene en sus manos una palomita blanca, que representa el regalo de dejar ir.  La angelita está puesta encima de de otro regalito envuelto en papel periódico, representando la humildad de dar.  El tamaño de la pintura es 9 x 11.5 cms, óleo sobre lienzo.
